All too often people are judged based on their appearance and what others perceive to be true without taking the time to get to know the actual person.

How We See Ourselves

Throughout life we have all been judged by others.

The goal here is to show how the stigma associated with mental illness has changed the way others see us, and the way we view ourselves.

How Clinicians See Us

How Society Sees Us

How the Media Sees Us

"Hello My Name Is..." is a photo series confronting stigma around mental illness, addiction, and disability, and its impact on identity. Participants share stories, visually showing the "Impact of Illness," to challenge judgment and build empathy. This project empowers and promotes inclusion. It inspired the "Identity Stolen" workshop on stigma's harm to self-esteem.

We invite individuals with lived experience of mental illness, addiction, or disability to join and participate in a photo session and share your story (anonymously if you prefer).
